Jamaican-Me-Crazy Jerk BBQ Turkey Wings
Ingredients
For the wings
-
4 to 6 turkey wings (split if they’re whole)
-
2 to 3 tablespoons olive oil
-
1 red bell pepper, sliced
-
1 green bell pepper, sliced
-
1 yellow bell pepper, sliced
-
1 orange bell pepper, sliced
-
1 large onion, sliced
-
1 tablespoon Spiced Living Jamaican Me Crazy seasoning
-
1 to 2 tablespoons jerk seasoning paste (depending on how spicy you like it)
- Juice of 1 lime
For the sauce
-
1 cup of your favorite barbecue sauce
-
1 teaspoon Jamaican Me Crazy seasoning
-
1 tablespoon jerk seasoning paste
-
2 to 3 tablespoons honey (go by taste)
Instructions
1. Prep and season the wings
Pat those turkey wings dry. Toss them in olive oil, Jamaican Me Crazy, and the jerk paste. Let them sit for an hour.
2. Layer the pan
Grab a roasting pan or deep baking dish. Mix your onions and peppers along with the wings so the seasoning coats the onions and peppers too. Spread your sliced peppers and onions across the bottom and lay the wings right on top. Squeeze lime juice on top and place butter and herbs on top as well (thyme, rosemary)
3. Cover and bake
Cover with foil and bake at 400°F for 2 hours covered until they start getting tender. if they are not tender, keep them in longer. Once they are tender enough, remove the foil and bake for 30 more minutes.
4. Make the sauce
While they’re cooking, whisk together the BBQ sauce, Jamaican Me Crazy, jerk paste, and honey.
Taste it. If your shoulders dance, you did it right. Adjust to your liking.
5. Sauce and finish
After the first hour and change, pull the wings out, uncover them and baste them with their own sauce. Spoon some of the peppers and onions on top so they caramelize.
After you have baked uncovered for another 30 minutes, brush the sauce over the wings and serve!
